The light is so spectacular that you can see all your vessels and tendons and bones below the surface. The light has no temperature, but it still is numbing. It removes your palms from the rest of your body, or it feels that way. The light presses in close to you. You can feel it numb your scalp and lap, your toes and your elbows. The light, you imagine, will go at some point, but that point is not now. No. Now it is bright and numbing and you hold your hands up to it and imagine it projects the shadows of your metacarpals and phalanges on your face.
